Space weather modelling expert
The Space Weather Service is currently advertising an ongoing Professional Officer Class 2 position to support the development and maintenance of a high resolution 3D model of the Australian region ionosphere meeting the exceptional requirements of a future National Positioning Infrastructure (NPI).
The primary role for the position over 2015–2017 will be to work in collaboration with the CRCSI on ionospheric model development for PPP-RTK.
Longer term, the role will develop or implement models of other components of the solar-terrestrial system to improve our ability to predict the effects of space weather on contemporary technology.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a proven ability in the use of mathematics and computer codes to model complex natural systems.
Ideally, the applicant will have experience in the reduction of GNSS data, the principles of geodesy and in implementing state-space modelling approaches, along with strong computing skills.
Applicants with expertise in other fields of complex systems modelling requiring similar aptitudes will be highly regarded.
