11 postgraduate students commenced in 2014 bringing the total cohort of active students to 32 at 31 December 2014. During the year five students completed their studies, thus CRCSI have achieved a total of 29 completed postgraduates. With 61 active and completed post-graduates we are on track to exceed our Commonwealth target of having invested in (enrolled or graduated) at least 51 PhDs and Masters with our university partners by 30 June 2018.

As of 2015, the CRCSI is seeking to increase the number and breadth of its PhD scholarship holders. To this end, we will no longer require top-up scholarship candidates to strictly align with a CRCSI research program.  New top-up scholarship applicants  must however substantially contribute to the broader CRCSI strategic goal of spatially enabling Australia and New Zealand. The CRCSI will conduct interviews with scholarship applicants proposing to work in new research areas to ensure the exceptional calibre of its postgraduate students and the relevance of the proposed research.
