This research will extend the aircraft path planning, data capture and flight assist concepts to optimise flight management and planning for large scale infrastructure aerial surveys.

The outcome will be a capability that can be applied to both highly automated manned and unmanned aircraft to reduce costs and optimise data capture.

4.3.1 There has been significant progress towards the Commonwealth Milstones:

• Development of baseline for 3D flight planning has been completed
• Development of improved cornering strategies for automated guidance and control: 80% completed
• Addition of aircraft dynamic modelling to 3D flight planning: 25% completed
• Real-time Control – Information Extraction: 10% completed
