The Murray–Darling Basin Authority is the agency responsible for planning the integrated management of the water resources of the Murray–Darling Basin.
The agency is part of the portfolio of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, reporting to the Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Water.
The MDBA is an integral element of the Australian Government’s Water for the Future program, which has four priorities:
- tackling climate change
- supporting healthy rivers
- using water wisely
- securing our water supplies
